Nagpur Metro Rail
The first phase of the project is now under construction in full swing, and consists of two corridors of 25 km (from Sitabuldi to MIHAN and Butibori via Airport) and 20 km (Sitabuldi to Automotive Square in Kamptee) respectively.
Currently underway in Nagpur, Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport (MIHAN) project is
for the economic boom of the city and to turn it into a largest logistics hub in the world.
This Project consists of the following two parts:
- An International Airport to act as a Cargo Hub with the integrated road and rail connectivity.
- A Special Economic Zone (SEZ) with a residential zone covering a total area of 40.25 km² on the southern end of Nagpur.
Deccan Express and Logistics, one of the major cargo carriers in India, has already started its Deccan 360 Cargo service here with three big A310 cargo aircrafts.
The New IT Hub
With many IT companies, like TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, etc. beginning their operations at MIHAN, employment would no longer be a problem here. This is a relief to all the youngsters who half-heartedly leave their hometown in order to pursue a job elsewhere.
Paving the way for a brilliant research & treatment of the disease. National Cancer Institute (NCI), a state-of-the-art 500-bed Comprehensive Cancer Centre, has been inaugurated on 13th August at the hands of the Chief Minister of State in presence of the legendary Mr. Ratan Tata at Jamtha in Nagpur.
In the wake of 20 more IITs to come up in India, Maharashtra government, along with the support of Union HRD Ministry, has decided to set up an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chincholi near Nagpur. With this premier institution, engineering & technology education and research would be par excellence here.
One of the 19 IIMs (the premier institutions of business school in India), Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur is operational since July 2015 and is being mentored by IIM (Ahmedabad).
National Law University (NLU)
The 19th National Law University, India’s autonomous body of law schools, is located at Nagpur and is operational since 2016.
One the IIITs approved by the Government of India’s (GOI) Ministry of Human Resource Development
(MHRD) and set up on a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) basis, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur (IIITN) is in operation in a temporary campus at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s Regional Telecom Training Centre (BSNL-RTTC, Nagpur) since July 2016 and is being mentored by Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT).
